If that’s not enough worthiness for your Steam library, it’s also stupidly cheap as of writing (until May 7) at $3/£2, so picking up the base game is an inexpensive first step. While EA thinks about that (”don’t hold your breath,” says my Force-powered 8 ball), 2005’s Battlefront 2 still hosts a small but fiercely dedicated community and a legion of intricate mods. A smooth launch and low bug count wouldn’t hurt, but hey, we’re PC gamers-let’s toss modding support right on top of the pile. Ten years has been quite the wait.īeyond jetpacking Rebel rocket troopers and anti-aliased Endor tree bark lies a fleet of expectations. There's still months to go before DICE’s Frostbitten reboot of grand-scale Star Wars-fare hits monitors, but the (carefully choreographed) bits seen so far are exciting stirrings of trading hot laser, lightsaber, and explodey death in both familiar and new worlds.

Relicnews forums appears to have some tutorials and guides for the tools.Battlefront is on the brain. It has Mission Editor, which I used to make the maps, and I believe essentially everything you need to mod the game (don't know what people use for models, but I suppose you'll figure it out). There's Dawn of War specific tools, known as "Dawn Of War Mod Tools" (check for the right version). I used to make maps for DoWDC, but I haven't modified anything. I've done modeling before, and I understand the basics of UV Mapping and texturing, I was just wondering if there were other tools like a map editor or maybe a plugin for a modeling program. Originally posted by Colonel Nerd:See, I was hoping to create a mod that mixes a number of franchises (STAR WARS, Supreme Commander, and Halo alongside a few Space Marine (or IG) units in the same faction - sort of a "dream army" for me, if you will :p I just was wondering if there were guides or mod tools available that the community found most helpful.
